About Me

I'm Quentin St.Clair, often known as 'Q'

Quentin St Clair

I am a therapist and musician who has learned that authentic happiness comes from aligning who you are with what you do. After many years in the IT industry—moving from programmer to Company Director—I realized I was living someone else’s dream. In 2006, I made a significant change, retraining as a therapist and counsellor while nurturing my creative side.

My musical background informs my therapeutic work, bringing creativity and metaphor to the process of change. As a therapist, I’ve spent over 5,000 hours with clients, creating spaces for everyday issues and life’s deeper questions.

My approach, which I call “Dream Then Change,” draws from humanistic therapy and my own journey of self-discovery—including my recent recognition of my own neurodivergence, which has deepened my understanding and empathy for those navigating similar experiences.

As a musician, I write and perform music with a pop heart and alt-rock skin. As a solo artist, I create music that explores human experience through sound and lyrics. Some based on personal experiences and some on life observations.

I believe music and therapy share something essential: both can help us access parts of ourselves that remain hidden in everyday life.

These two strands—therapy and music—aren’t separate for me anymore. They’re both ways of helping people (including myself) find authentic expression and connection. The “Dream Then Change” process brings together insights from both worlds to help you align your thinking, feeling and behaviour with what truly matters to you.

Brief Biography

I practice as a therapist and alignment guide, working primarily online with clients across the UK and internationally, across many countries and three continents. I’m accredited as a psychotherapeutic counsellor (re-accredited in 2023) and draw from humanistic therapy approaches in my work.

My professional journey began in the IT industry, where I worked at all levels from programmer to Company Director before transitioning to therapeutic work in 2006. This background in business and project management now informs my structured approach to personal change.

Creative

As a musician, I perform under the name QJB and organise events as SongSmith, and collaborate on various musical projects that explore human experience through sound and lyrics. I lead The Genius of David Bowie—a band celebrating Bowie’s musical legacy. I believe music has the power to express what words alone cannot, and I often incorporate musical insights into my therapeutic work.

The “Dream Then Change – Align Your Life” process represents the culmination of my journey—bringing together therapeutic principles, musical creativity, and practical life alignment strategies to help others find their authentic path, with particular understanding and support for neurodivergent individuals seeking to navigate life in their own unique way. My specialized training in Imago Relationship Therapy and work with the Drama Triangle provides additional tools for helping couples transform their relationships and create deeper connection.

Therapist Profile

Quentin St Clair

I am an experienced therapist trained in several modalities. As an integrative therapist I can focus on the experience of the therapeutic relationship and can adapt to your needs and style using my many years of experience working with a wide range of clients with varied issues and backgrounds.

I will help you to experience a warm therapeutic relationship to support the changes you want to make to improve your experience of life. I also use my pre-therapy experience in the music and IT industry in particular to good effect. I work with individuals, couples and young adults mostly. My focus on the relationship is enhanced by my current project using the Imago Clinical techniques. I am an accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and a trained psychotherapist.

I belong to UK Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners, part of UKCP humanistic school. I have had many clinical hours and a similar number in support roles with autistic spectrum, learning difficulties and psychiatric hospital clients. The majority of these are adult 1:1 though also with couples and family therapy and about one third of my hours are with children and young adults (mostly 9-25 year olds) so am experienced in all those forms. Total clinical hours are now over 5,000

I cover all types of issue from relationships, communication and self-esteem through mood disorders and dependency having worked with drugs, alcohol and gambling in the latter. In recent years I have also worked with an increasing number of neurodivergent clients, particularly with ADHD and through this and my own personal experience feel I can offer a unique perspective.

An increasing part of my work is in couples therapy using the Imago methodology and my experience as a traditional couple therapist. I am a trained Imago Therapist awaiting accreditation.
